Exploring The World Of Dentistry

Going to the dentist was always a bit of a thrill for me. I'm not quite sure if it was my mother's promise to pay me $5 for each cavity free visit or the awesome toys my dentist kept in the waiting room that led to my initial love of dentistry, but one thing is for sure. My early love of dentistry has helped me to maintain a healthy and beautiful smile throughout my entire life. I am convinced that the more we know about dentistry and how it can impact our lives, the more likely we will be to develop good oral hygiene habits. That is why I have decided to start this blog so that everyone can have access to the latest information in the world of dentistry.

Minimizing Bad Breath With Natural Methods

If you are one of the 50-65% of people who suffer from chronic halitosis, you are most likely interested in finding ways to minimize or eliminate odor in the mouth effectively. There are several natural breath freshening enhancements that are able to be administered naturally. Here are some ways to minimize bad breath with items you can find in your home or buy in a grocery store.

Check The Spice Cabinet

There are several spices that are known to help alleviate the pungency of breath. Grab a clove, place it in your mouth, and bend it with your tongue until the interior seeps out into your mouth. Move it around constantly to help keep bitterness from being too harsh on your tongue. After a minute or two, you can throw the clove away as it would have done its job. Coriander, anise, dill seed, and cinnamon are all helpful in abating bad breath. A small pinch of any of these in the mouth will take odor away quickly.

Munch On Healthy Foods

When you have an empty stomach, bad breath will be more noticeable. This is because the acids in the stomach are not working on digesting food. Instead, you will be more prone to burping, emitting the odor from these acids as a result. Eat small snacks throughout the day to help keep bad breath at bay. Stick with healthy options since you will be eating more frequentlyso you do not gain weight in the process. Carrots, celery, and citrus fruits are all great at combating bad breath without adding on extra pounds at the same time.

Hydrate Yourself Often

Drinking water will help take away bad odor from the mouth. Make sure to sip at water regularly throughout the day to help wash away bacteria from the teeth. If you are in an area without others nearby, rinse and spit out the water afterward to help eliminate odorous bacteria in the process.

Scrape Away The Smell

If you are unable to drink or eat something and you notice your breath is feeling less than fresh, you can try scraping your tongue to minimize the odor. This can be done with anything hard such as a spoon, fork, or credit card. If you can't find something hard to use, ask someone for a napkin and use it to wipe off your tongue discreetly and then throw it in the trash. Bacteria often harbors in the crevices of the tongue, so any of these methods will reduce the amount, lessening the odor at the same time.
